John Lose
Baptist Student Ministry at the University of Delaware, and the college ministry at Ogletown had a big impact on my life. I came to college set on living life my own way and was doing a pretty good job at it. Growing up, I had heard stories of Jesus but I doubted they were true. I had no real faith. In college, I developed a good friendship with a fellow engineering student who was a Christian. He would try to talk to me about faith or Jesus but I usually just made fun of him and we would get back to homework. Little did I know he and his campus minister had been praying for me for months.
After some time, my attitude toward Jesus began to change. I was initiating more of the faith conversations with my friend and had a growing desire to know what was true. Not long after everything changed.
I believed. I was saved.
These ministries didn’t just play a role in my salvation, it played a major role after I was saved, too. They adopted me as their own, providing a place to go for fellowship, friendship, ministering and discipleship. They gave me the counseling I needed to share Christ with my roommates, classmates and famiIy. I spent my senior year being discipled and now I am living to please God. I now pray that God will use these ministries as well as Ogletown Baptist to rescue others like me.
